Cushy is an inflatable medical chair designed to make the everyday sanitary routine in elderly homes easier for both residents and caregivers. The project anticipates each step of the process, including moving the user from bed into the chair, transporting her from the bedroom to the shower, undressing and dressing before and after showering, and the act of showering itself. Cushy’s seat is inflatable, providing a soft, shock absorbing surface that is strong enough to support the weight of the user and can be further inflated to change her position without straining the caregiver.
