# 2017 e-CAL 1020 |
The e-CAL 1020 is a plug-and-play electrical engine which converts your bicycle into an e-bike. Inspired by the steep hills of Lausanne in Switzerland, this retrofit motor stores the energy generated from downhill braking and sends it back to the wheels when it's needed. Solely recharged by human effort, the e-CAL 1020 uses a generator similar to the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), a technology used in Formula One. By offering a retrofit solution, the e-CAL 1020 electrical engine encourages a collaboration between technological and analogue devices.
