Easeband is an intelligent wristband that can detect its wearer’s negative emotions and release a pleasing scent to help them refocus and relax. The device works even when the wearer is asleep, automatically adjusting its settings according to received emotional input. When Easeband detects anxiety via its heart rate sensor, for example, an in-built ceramic heater will slightly increase its temperature, heating an essential oil inside the band and releasing a relaxing scent. Inspired by increasing rates of anxiety and depression amongst young people, Easeband offers a drug-free form of treatment, based on re-engaging the senses.
