# 2020 Electric Car for the Elderly |
The project addresses the issue of mobility for the elderly in an urban context, and attempts to combine efficiency whilst maintaining safety and dignity. The electric car is the size of a Smart so it can park perpendicularly to the sidewalk, but unlike the Smart, its door opens onto the sidewalk, providing safe embarkation and disembarkation. The seats are motorized to assist the elderly in getting up almost to standing position, and the unobtrusive door enables them to easily step out onto the sidewalk. It is designed to drive autonomously, thus also allowing users more independence.
