Hydra Bioreactor

About

3D biofabrication using bacterial materials

This innovative bioreactor enables the growth of complex 3D bacterial materials, overcoming the limitations of traditional flat forms such as bioleather and cellulose. By using modified bacteria, the system produces materials with elastic, rigid, or waterproof properties at speeds 5-7 times faster than previous methods. It also promotes sustainability by efficiently converting food waste into valuable biomaterials. With applications in healthcare, fashion, and aerospace, this scalable solution advances sustainable manufacturing and material science
