IamaBuild introduces a groundbreaking solution to enhance concrete durability and sustainability. By incorporating banana pseudostem fibres, which carry self-healing agents, this innovative admixture actively repairs microcracks in concrete as they form. This self-healing capability preserves structural integrity and extends lifespan, crucial for earthquake-prone areas like the Philippines. Additionally, repurposing agricultural waste reduces the environmental impact of concrete production while lowering maintenance costs and improving resilience against seismic activities

    Adrian is a senior chemical engineering student at the University of Mindanao, Philippines. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Fulbright Global Undergraduate Exchange Program, which allowed him to study at the University of Maine, U.S.A. for its Spring 2022 Semester. Apart from his academic achievements, he is also active in various socio-civic organizations—leading and volunteering in projects that champion youth empowerment and environmental conservation. His undergraduate thesis focused on the utilization of waste durian rinds and fly-ash as additives to improve concrete’s mechanical properties and self-healing ability. more
