# 2020 Monitum |
Epilepsy is a condition that effect around 50 million people worldwide and causes danger and distress due to the unpredictable nature of seizures. Monitum is a speculative project into the world of seizure prediction using in ear electroencephalogram (EEG) technology and mobile processing. The EEG earpiece is custom made for each user to ensure a tight fit for the dry contact electrodes. The data it collects is then transmitted via the Bluetooth module behind the ear to a phone or a dedicated processing unit carried by the user. When a seizure is detected the module behind the ear vibrates allowing the user to get themselves to safety.
