Myco-bricks: Sustainable Urban Development

About

High-strength mycelium-based bricks for sustainable construction

Myco-bricks addresses the challenge of using mycelium-based composites (MBCs) in construction by enhancing their strength and versatility. Traditional MBCs lack the rigidity needed for structural applications. This innovative approach involves creating a high-strength porous structure using wood-PLA composites, which supports mycelium growth and provides exceptional strength comparable to clay bricks. The bio-bricks also offer improved thermal insulation, water resistance, and fire resistance. By incorporating a unique design and manufacturing process, Myco-bricks offers a sustainable and cost-effective building material that promotes eco-friendly urban development.
