One Hour

About

A place to pause

One Hour is an system of recreational spaces designed to provide temporary relief from the stresses of urban life. The project is inspired by Dubai’s transition into 24-hour society and the occupational stress that this produces among the city’s residents. The design responds by proposing a system of relaxation zones positioned strategically throughout the city. These zones are designed to maximize the therapeutic effects of the one-hour break that is standard to the working day. Visitors can immerse themselves in nature, art, people, or solitude. Each node is the One Hour network is takes the form of a ribbon folded to provide five kilometers of linear space that can be covered by one hour of continuous walking.
