PhytoMat

About

Nature-based solution for carbon capture using phytoplankton

PhytoMat is an accessible and effective solution to address environmental damage caused by carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. The solution consists of three main components: phytoplankton, a highly porous substrate, and a binding fluid. Phytoplankton plays a crucial role in nature, already absorbing about 40% of the CO2 generated on Earth. PhytoMat leverages this natural photosynthesis process to absorb in just one square meter the equivalent amount of CO2 captured by 34 adult trees.
