Sustainable Mechanical Pressure Converter for Water Desalination

About

Make seawater drinkable without fossil fuels

Sustainable Mechanical Pressure Converter for Water Desalination is a ground-breaking device that can transform salt water into fresh water without electricity. Water desalination facilities provide about 80 percent of the water consumed in the UAE. The current seawater desalination processes are expensive and require huge amounts of power. This project provides an innovative, sustainable solution to the problem of making seawater drinkable. It eliminates the need for electricity or fossil fuels by using a hydraulic system that converts wind energy into the pressure needed to produce fresh water through membrane desalination. In this way, the project is a significant step toward achieving the UAE’s long-term goals related to water scarcity and energy consumption and sustainability in the country.
