Elmer Austria Jr. is a Biomedical Engineering PhD student from the University of Sydney. His research work is focused on the synthesis and functionalization of plasma-polymerized nanoparticles for cancer therapy, with breast cancer serving as one example. His work on drug-conjugated PPNs made him one of the finalists of the 2024 AusHealth CureCell Awards, and his research has been presented in both Australian and international conferences. He earned his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, where his research focused on using magnetic nanoparticles for the enrichment of glycoproteins and glycopeptides.
