Dr Gestél Kuyler is a researcher at Stellenbosch University's Department of Chemistry and Polymer Science. With expertise in polymer chemistry, her PhD research focused on developing amphiphilic terpolymers for biomedical applications, particularly the isolation and evaluation of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Gestél has contributed to advancing polymer-based technologies, collaborating with scientists globally. Her innovative approaches have led to filing a patent and establishing a scientific spin-off company, Nanosene (Pty) Ltd, driving the commercialisation of innovative polymers for membrane protein research. She is committed to pushing the boundaries of polymer science to address global health challenges.
