Marianna Mezhibovskaya is an experience designer, design strategist, and fabricator with a mission to create collaborative and interactive experiences around social justice. She recently relocated to New Orleans from New York to pursue socially-engaged work and re-engage her love of fabrication. Marianna is currently working as a welder at GoodWood NOLA, a custom furniture and retail display studio. She is also in the process of building her design community in her new city while designing and facilitating workshops and curriculum, teaching applied design methodologies to undergraduate students in New Orleans.
In May of 2016, Marianna graduated from the School of Visual Arts MFA Products of Design program in New York. Human-centered design, cross-disciplinary research, and joyful interventions were her means of empowering disenfranchised and underserved communities. Her year-long thesis, Outsiders: Designing Engagement with the Incarcerated, focused on fostering compassion and shifting negative public perception through designed workshops, systems maps, physical products, services, apps, and an interactive exhibition that invited the public to connect to the incarcerated.
