Nicky’s love for design began with her artistic parents, who always had a craft project for her to complete at the ready. Mom had every creative tool possible, dad was inventive – always trying to find new ways to improve people’s wellbeing. They challenged her to think outside of the box – to not just accept things as they are, but to be open to the world of possibility…what if? Since her early design beginnings, Nicky has studied a BCom in Tourism Management and BTech in Interior Design, and now currently works at the International Trend Institute in Durban, South Africa as a Spatial Concept and Environmental Designer. She has exhibited her project My Tova, at numerous design indabas and has placed in national and international competitions. After hours she enjoys reading up more about designers creating things that go beyond simply aesthetics, to solving real-life problems and adding value to everyday life.
