The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP ) is a private university located in the city of Lima, Peru . It was founded on March 24, 1917 by Father Jorge Dintilhac of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary as " Catholic University of Peru ", being officially recognized the same date, so it is the oldest private university in the country. PUCP is considered one of the most important private institutions of higher education in Peru. Thus rankings of universities such as the NRA sponsored by UNESCO, the University Ranking by Academic Performance and the world ranking of universities placed PUCP on 2nd place nationally, while other rankings and editions place it in the 1st place also nationally. Until the date, PUCP has 10 faculties, one graduate school, institutes and a cultural center.
