Uganda Christian University (UCU) is a Christian institution founded by the Church of Uganda in 1997, with a vision to provide quality university education grounded in Christian values. UCU succeeded the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College, which had trained clergy and educators for over 80 years. In 2004, UCU became the first private university in Uganda to be chartered by the government. Located in Mukono, about 90 minutes from Kampala, UCU has grown into one of Uganda’s leading universities, known for its strong teaching and research programs. As a pioneer in Online Distance Learning (ODeL), UCU launched the UCU eLearning platform in 2014, positioning the university to meet the demands of an increasingly digital academic environment. Approved by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), the platform now serves students from across Uganda, Africa, and beyond, offering flexible learning opportunities in a tech-driven landscape.
