About
A mastectomy is an operation during which either one or both of the breasts are removed due to breast cancer. It is a heavy operation, often followed by the reconstruction of the breast(s) with tissues and fat from other parts of the body. Mastectomy Caregiver is a knitted sweater that protects the scars resulting from the procedure, acting as a protective shell with tighter and looser areas as required. The industrial knitting technique allows the garment to fit the body of a particular woman and avoid the presence of uncomfortable seams, acting as a companion during the woman’s recovery.

Pauline Agustoni, born on 24th April 1996 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Graduated from highschool Lycée Blaise-Cendrars in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 2014, bilingual baccalaureate French/English, specific focus Visual Arts, mention Good. Art Foundation Course Diploma from Hochschule Luzern Design & Kunst, Lucerne, Switzerland in 2015. Graduated with Cum Laude from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2019, Textile Minor and department Public Private. 6-weeks full-time internship at La Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne (carpet manufactory), Moroges, France in 2016. 6-months full-time internship at Jongeriuslab, Berlin, Germany in 2018-2019.
