ANGIE

Project Overview

About

ANGIE addresses the challenge of treating inoperable brainstem gliomas, such as diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG), which are resistant to conventional therapies. This innovative solution involves magnetically guided microcapsules that deliver CAR T-cells directly to the tumour site. Using remote magnetic navigation and ultrasound-triggered release, the precise delivery system enhances the efficacy of CAR T-cell therapy while minimising side effects. This breakthrough approach offers hope for improving survival rates in patients suffering from this aggressive cancer

ETH Zurich

Fabian was born and raised in the beautiful city of Hamburg, Germany. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich, during which he completed a nine-month internship in Taiwan, working on industrial semiconductor fabrication.Fabian developed a strong interest in scaling phenomena and medical microrobots during his studies. For his Master’s thesis, he worked at the Harvard Microrobotics Laboratory, developing electroadhesive devices. In August 2019, Fabian joined MSRL as a doctoral student, focusing on developing small-scale drug-delivery microrobots for clinical applications, with an emphasis on translating microrobots into clinical use.
