Bactery generates electricity by harnessing soil microbes that break down organic matter, offering a long-lasting, zero-maintenance energy source for remote agricultural sensors. Each unit can power devices for over 25 years, outperforming batteries and solar panels in cost, reliability, and carbon footprint. Buried discreetly underground, the system enables data-driven farming even in off-grid locations. Scalable and emission-free, Bactery transforms soil into a clean energy source, with potential applications beyond agriculture, including home gardens and environmental monitoring

Dr Jakub Dzięgielowski is the founder and CEO of Bactery and a chemical engineer whose research created bacteria-powered batteries (“bacteries”) that harvest electricity from microbial metabolism. During his PhD at University of Bath he pioneered research in soil-rechargeable batteries, and in 2019, built a soil-powered water-purification system in Brazil, demonstrating real impact for remote and developing communities. Bactery is now scaling, with installations delivering clean power across 5 different continents.
