About

Antibiotic pollution, a major driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), is responsible for 1.27 million deaths annually, projected to reach 10 million by 2050. With up to 90% of antibiotics excreted into wastewater of which less than 10% is treated, harmful residues persist, impacting health and ecosystems. Envirovex addresses this with engineered mirror enzymes that efficiently degrade antibiotics in wastewater, converting them into valuable chemicals. This innovative approach improves public health, protects water resources, and reduces the substantial economic costs associated with AMR.
