Healing Materialities

Healing Materialities

About

Healing Materialities explores biodesign’s potential for sustainable transition, analysing the roles of living organisms, emerging materials, and the evolving role of bio-designers. Bio-fabricated materials promote a circular economy and regenerative design. The concept of Healing Materialities captures biodesign's dual nature: this research incorporates practical projects on various materials, suggesting tools to bridge biodesign with other disciplines such as green chemistry and sustainable design, underlining its pivotal role in a holistic ecological transition.

I’m a sustainable design and materials specialist. Since 2010 I have been dealing with sustainable design and materials as a designer, consultant, lecturer and researcher. I hold a master inEcodesign and Eco-innovation, and a master's degree in Computational Design. I recently concluded a Ph.D. in Design at Politecnico di Milano (June 2023) with a research intersecting Biodesign, Material Design and Design for Sustainability, where I carried out four biodesign projects in collaboration with Italian and foreign life sciences experts and scientific laboratories, helping in the development of biobased and biofabricated material solutions.
