Hugsy
Project Overview
About
Hugsy is a swaddling blanket that simulates and facilitates Kangaroo Care (KC), a method of caring for a premature baby in which the infant is held in skin-to-skin contact with a parent for as long as possible each day. The Hugsy positioning bags hold the baby in place on the parent’s chest during a KC session. In addition, the parent’s heartbeat is recorded and played back later and their scent is absorbed into the Hugsy fabric for greater comfort.

Miguel is from Portugal, and studied Industrial Design Engineering at The Hague University of Applied Sciences before continuing with his Master’s education in Eindhoven. He believes that above all design is the discipline of solving problems. Miguel’s strengths are design sketching, user testing, and design methods.
Lisa Smits

Lisa Malou Smits was born and raised in Delft. Currently she doing the Master's program Industrial Design at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). According to her design should be about a balance between function, format and society.
Jiachun Du

Jiachun Du loves playing with technology in his design. Although he enjoys spending a day in circuit and coding his friends still think he should find a job like host of a Chinese food television show in the future.
Sylvie Claes

Sylvie Claes Is a TU/e Industrial Design Master’s student who was born in Belgium, but has grown up around the world. She completed her Bachelor’s in Industrial Design Engineering, and has a strong focus in user centered design, user experience, and user research.
