OrthoClay

Project Overview
About
Severe hip damage can leave irregular cavities in the pelvic bone that standard implants cannot match securely. Custom parts fit more closely but are costly, take weeks to manufacture and rely on scans made before surgery. OrthoClay is a titanium mesh that surgeons shape during the operation to match the defect, then lock into a rigid, load-bearing structure. Ready for use in the operating theatre without a separate custom-manufacturing process, OrthoClay could make complex reconstruction faster and more affordable, reduce implant loosening and repeat surgery, and preserve mobility for more patients.
