About

Landfill leachate is a major pollutant, especially in arid regions with limited treatment options. This hybrid system combines tannins extracted from Omani date pits with a persulfate-based oxidation process to remove harmful compounds. Optimised through statistical modelling, the treatment achieved 74% reduction in organic pollution, 60% ammonia removal, and 96% colour reduction. By using agricultural waste and requiring minimal infrastructure, the system offers a scalable, low-cost solution for cleaner water in resource-constrained settings

National University of Science and Technology – Oman

A Chemical Engineering graduate and founder of Tannova, pioneering hybrid tannin-based coagulation and persulfate advanced oxidation for stabilized landfill leachate treatment. I represented Oman as one of five national delegates at the London International Youth Science Forum 2025 and was a finalist at the Qatar Innovation Hackathon 2025. I earned the Youth Excellence Award in Environment, 2nd place at the Qimam Hackathon, and 3rd place at Dhofar University’s National Research Competition. Consistently recognized on the Dean’s List, I am committed to transforming research into scalable, sustainable technologies that advance global climate and environmental goals.
