PlantZCare

PlantZCare

Project Overview

About

PlantZCare is a plant-wearable IoT sensor that monitors stem-specific electrical bio-impedance, providing real-time insight into crop health. Unlike conventional systems that rely on environmental data, this lightweight, non-invasive device tracks internal plant signals to detect stress and hydration issues before visible symptoms appear. It enables early, precise interventions while reducing resource use and costs. Easy to install and maintain, it brings cutting-edge, plant-centred monitoring within reach of small and medium-sized farms for more sustainable agriculture

Politecnico di Torino (POLITO)

Luca Rolle is a Ph.D. candidate in Electronic Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and the CEO & Co-Founder of PlantZCare. With an academic background in Electronic Engineering and deep roots in a rural environment, he decided to merge technical expertise with agriculture, pursuing a path in AgriTech. This vision led to the creation of PlantZCare, an Italy-based startup developing plant-wearable IoT sensors for simple, cost-effective, and direct plant health monitoring. Through its innovative use of stem electrical bio-impedance, PlantZCare adopts a plant-centered approach that captures internal physiological signals and translates them into meaningful insights, enabling more precise and sustainable farming practices.
