Excess use of plastic bags is destroying the environment and contributing to climate change. An innovative alternative to harmful plastic bags, Wege has developed eco-friendly, low-cost packaging from banana waste. This is a social venture that promotes green practices in Burundi through a circular economy, providing vital jobs for unemployed youth and adding value to banana plantations.

Jolis Nduwimana is a Burundian entrepreneur, young leader and a climate change activist. He is the Founder and Executive Director of WEGE COMPANY, a social startup which promotes the green economy in Burundi through manufacturing and selling eco-friendly packaging made from banana waste. Currently studying business administration and management at INUSSAD University, he has been listed as the Top 10 young Burundian's by a redaction made in JimbereMagazine (2021) for his leadership and entrepreneurial skills. He is now a country representative of Africa under 40 CEOs network.
