Vertaxis
3D-printed urban wind turbines with smart satellite maintenance

Vertaxis is a German renewable energy venture bringing wind power into cities, which account for over 75% of global energy consumption but have almost no on-site wind generation. Developed at Constructor University Bremen and commercialised through NebulaForm GmbH, its proprietary vertical-axis turbines are built on the world’s largest industrial delta 3D printer and are compact and quiet enough for rooftops. An AI-driven monitoring system combining satellite imagery and sensor data, developed through a European Space Agency project, predicts maintenance needs before failures occur. Vertaxis is piloting on public buildings in Germany, including a school project funded by Metropolregion Nordwest, and is expanding to Dubai to unlock urban wind, one of the largest untapped renewable sources.

AI-Monitored 3D-Printed Wind Turbines for Cities
Vertaxis turbines catch wind from any direction and run quietly at low speeds, making them ideal for rooftops where conventional turbines can’t go. Satellite and sensor monitoring flags maintenance early, cutting inspection costs and extending turbine lifespan by over 5 years.
